Choosing exterior paint colors that last on the Costa Brava
Some pigments handle the sun well while others fade fast. Picking the right color and paint type for your exterior makes the finish last twice as long.

Stable and sensitive pigments
Mineral pigments like iron oxides last a long time. Organic ones, like bright reds or violets, break down faster in the sun.
Colors for the Costa Brava
- Off-whites and lime whites.
- Sand tones.
- Soft terracottas (chromaticity under 40).
- Olive or sage greens.
What to avoid
- Bright reds.
- Black on large walls. They get too hot and the paint eventually cracks.
- Bold blues unless they are mineral-based.
Recommended product
For walls exposed to sun and sea salt, use Blatem Revepol siloxánico. It lets the wall breathe, keeps water out, and the color stays for years.
