Façade colors on the Costa Brava: choosing tones that last
Not all pigments resist UV radiation equally. For Mediterranean façades, choosing the right color and paint can double the lifespan of the coating.

Blanco cal
Arena mediterránea
Greige piedra
Terracota lavada
Stable vs. sensitive pigments
Mineral pigments (iron oxides, natural earths) are extremely stable. Organic pigments (bright reds, magentas, saturated violets) degrade faster under intense UV radiation.
Recommended palette for the Costa Brava
- Off-whites and lime whites.
- Greiges and sand tones.
- Washed terracottas (chromaticity < 40).
- Muted sage and olive greens.
What to avoid
- Highly saturated reds and magentas.
- Deep blacks on large surfaces (they absorb heat and tend to crack).
- Very bright blues not formulated with mineral pigment.
Recommended product
Blatem Revepol siloxánico is our top recommendation for façades exposed to sun and salt spray. It is breathable, water-repellent, and maintains color stability for years.
