How to Read a Color Chart Without Making Mistakes: 5 Basic Rules

The same color can look completely different depending on sample size, lighting, and surrounding materials. These five rules will save you from costly mistakes.

Color palette

Muestra A4
Luz norte
Luz LED 3000K
Luz sur

The 5 Rules

1. Never decide based on a small swatch. Always request at least an A4 sample or paint a 1 m² area on the wall.
2. View the color during actual hours of use. A living room primarily used in the evening should be judged under evening light.
3. Compare it against real materials (flooring, furniture, textiles), not in isolation.
4. Be careful with LED lighting. A 3000K LED warms up the color; a 4000K LED cools it down.
5. Decide in groups of three. Place three similar shades together. The brain chooses more accurately through comparison than in isolation.

Sample Service

At Suministros Barrero, we provide real paint samples (not printed) in A4 format or 250 ml tester pots so you can validate the color on-site before placing a large order.
