Color palettes by style: from Nordic to Industrial in Girona
Learn how to choose the right color palette for your home on the Costa Brava. We break down NCS and RAL codes for Japandi, Industrial, and Rustic styles.
Color palette
Sometimes you walk into our shop in Lloret de Mar with an idea but struggle to name the exact color. The grey you want for a loft wall isn't the same one you would use for a farmhouse in La Selva. Every decor style has its own look.
To help you get it right, I put together a few technical palettes using NCS (Natural Colour System) and RAL codes. If you like a specific shade, we can mix it right away with our Blatem tinting machine. We can adjust the matte or satin finish to fit your project.
Japandi style: calm neutrals Japandi mixes Scandinavian warmth with Japanese minimalism. This style uses organic colors that look like paper, light wood, and stone. Stay away from pure whites that look too bright under the Costa Brava sun.
For this style, I recommend NCS S 1505-Y30R. It is a soft sand tone that works great as a base color. If you want more character for a piece of furniture or an accent wall, NCS S 3010-Y30R adds the warmth of dry earth. These tones look good with Blatem varnishes in a matte finish. They keep the wood looking natural.
Industrial style: iron and concrete If you live in an open space or want to update your business in Blanes or Tossa de Mar, industrial is the way to go. We use colors that mimic building materials and metal.
RAL 7044 Silk grey is a safe bet for walls if you want light with a concrete feel. For beams, window frames, or metal details, RAL 7016 Anthracite grey is the standard. If you have metalwork with a bit of rust, apply Blatem anti-rust enamel directly in this RAL code to protect and decorate at the same time.
Modern Rustic style: the essence of Girona In houses in the La Selva interior or in old town centers, rustic does not have to be dark. It is about using colors that connect with the landscape.
NCS S 2020-Y30R is a toasted ochre that looks like local stone. Pair it with RAL 9001 Cream white on the ceilings to keep the room feeling tall. If you are painting a facade on the Costa Brava and need it to last, ask about our Blatem waterproofing range and elastic coatings. We can mix these colors in products that resist salt air.
Scents and feelings at home Color is what you see, but a room feels complete when it smells good. At Suministros Barrero, we stock [Air-Bosq air fresheners](/categorias/ambientadores). A good color choice stands out more if the space smells right.
- The clean NCS S 1505-Y30R from the Japandi style pairs well with UNO. It has notes of green tea and bergamot.
- For the strength of RAL 7016 in industrial settings, the FIERO scent adds cedar wood and sea notes to balance the cold metal.
- In a rustic room with NCS S 2020-Y30R ochre, the ET fragrance fits perfectly with its sage and lavender. These scents are common in our Girona fields.
If you drop by our shop in Lloret de Mar, we can show you the physical RAL Classic and NCS Colour charts. You can see how the color changes depending on the light in your house.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get a RAL color in eco-friendly paint?
Yes. We can mix almost any RAL or NCS reference in the Blatem eco-friendly paint line using our tinting system.
What is the difference between NCS and RAL?
NCS is based on how we perceive color and offers thousands of shades for interior design. RAL is a standardized system used mostly in industry and metalwork.
Is RAL 7016 Anthracite grey too dark for interiors?
It is a strong tone. We usually suggest it for accent walls, window frames, or structural pieces so it does not overwhelm the room.
How do I choose the right roller for these styles?
It depends on the finish. For Japandi style with smooth matte walls, use a Pentrilo microfiber roller. For textured rustic walls, a natural wool roller is better.
Do you ship these colors outside the Costa Brava?
Yes. We mix your chosen color and ship it anywhere in Spain and Europe with protected packaging.
