The Problem with Pantone Colors in Paint
Pantone works with spot inks designed for graphic arts and textiles. A wall, however, reflects light very differently than coated paper or fabric. That is why a Pantone color applied directly as paint never looks the same as it does in the guide.
The Solution: Translating to NCS or RAL
NCS (Natural Colour System) and RAL are the two European standards designed for opaque surfaces. Every Pantone has an approximate equivalent in both systems, and our tinting machines calculate it automatically.
How to Use the Color of the Year Without Overwhelming the Space
- On a single accent wall, leaving the rest in off-white or greige.
- On interior woodwork (doors, baseboards) if the color is medium or dark.
- On facade details —jambs, balconies, railings— to add value to a building without a full renovation.
