Color trends: the rise of greige and Mediterranean neutrals

From cold whites to warm tones

We see everyone at the shop looking for calm now. People are leaving hospital whites behind and picking colors from nature. We use the NCS system a lot to find the right spot between gray and beige: greige.

This color works well with the light we have on the Costa Brava. The code NCS S 2005-Y20R is a good example. It is a neutral with a warm touch so rooms do not feel empty.

Pantone 11-4201 Cloud Dancer: the new white

Pantone 11-4201 Cloud Dancer is the color of the year for 2026. Laurie Pressman from Pantone says it is like a blank canvas to start over. It is not a blinding white. It is a light tone that adds space.

If you paint walls with this color and add textured wallpapers, your eyes rest. It goes well with wood furniture or darker details like Seigneurie Cendre 1248.

Mediterranean neutrals and the NCS system

The NCS system shows how we actually see colors. The light is very strong here on the coast. NCS S 1002-Y helps stop the sun from bothering you while keeping things bright.

For projects using Blatem paint, we sell a lot of RAL 7044 Silk grey. Earth tones connect the house with the outside. When you use these codes, the color you choose is exactly what ends up on the wall.

How to combine these colors

Mix a few tones to get the decor right:

1. Use NCS S 1502-Y50R on main walls. This greige changes depending on the sun.
2. Seigneurie Cendre 1248 works for frames and ceilings to add depth.
3. Put Pantone 11-4201 Cloud Dancer on moldings to keep everything looking fresh.
