Interior design color trends: from greige to warm Mediterranean
Check out the new trends in warm and natural colors for your home. We explain how to use NCS and RAL codes to pick the right Blatem paint.
Color palette
Colors are coming: goodbye to cold white
Interiors are moving away from cold whites. People want warmer colors linked to nature and rest. At Suministros Barrero, where we sell Blatem paint and wallpaper in Lloret de Mar, we see this with our professional customers. To get these colors right, we use two systems: NCS (Natural Colour System) and RAL.
People aren't looking for pure white anymore. They ask for tones that feel calm and natural. It isn't just about picking a beige; it's about using technical codes so the color is exactly what you want on any material.
Greige and neutrals on the Costa Brava
Greige is our top seller for renovations here and across Europe. It’s a mix of gray and beige that looks great. The NCS S 2005-Y20R reference is our most requested. It has a bit of yellow and red so the room doesn't look sad when the sun isn't out.
If you prefer something timeless for windows or beams, RAL 7044 Silk grey works well. It blends with light walls without standing out too much. Using these codes helps everything in the house match.
Earth tones for a cozy home
Colors that remind you of clay or sand are very popular now. The NCS S 3010-Y30R code is a good choice for living rooms or bedrooms because it makes the space feel closer. It has a strength that changes with sunlight and looks very organic.
For those who want light without using white, RAL 1015 Light ivory still works. It gives space to small rooms and is warmer than office white.
How NCS and RAL work
The NCS system is based on how eyes see color. It helps us recommend things like NCS S 1005-Y50R if you want a sand tone that leans toward peach.
RAL is used more in industry and architecture across Europe. At Suministros Barrero, we use both so your Blatem wall paint matches your furniture or accessories.
Tips for painting on the Costa Brava
1. Natural light: We have a lot of light here. RAL 9002 Grey white works well on facades or bright spots because it cuts the glare.
2. Contrasts: You can use a base of NCS S 2005-Y20R and use RAL 7039 Quartz grey for details to add depth.
3. Continuity: If you are buying from Europe, keep the references so the paint cans you order later are the exact same shade.
